HOW DO I USE THESE

I color the words, cut the bottom parts out, and glue them back to back to make the flashcard for each word. Then, I glue the two pieces together, making a two-sided flashcard with English and Mandarin on one side. 

I use the top part for a page in my language journal. I color the words and practice them. Sometimes, I try to develop a sentence using the other Mandarin words I have learned.  I combine it with others by using a brass roundhead pushpin.

I am not a teacher. I am just an old guy trying to learn a few words in Chinese, and at my age, it is hard, so I make these projects to help me to learn.

WHY I MAKE THESE 

I did not discover the wonder of language until I became too old to learn. At my age, I need all the help I can get, so I make flashcards to help me learn new words,

I made the top of a language journal page and scribbled notes all over the border and the space for practice writing. The bottom is a flashcard to color and decorate the words. 

HERE ARE SOME INSTRUCTIONS 

Print out the page below and color the words. Then, cut out the bottom sections. Next, glue them back to back so they make a flashcard for the words. If your paper is too lightweight, sandwich the two sides between a third sheet or a piece of heavier cardstock. Use the top part for a language journal to add to others. Just use brass roundhead push-through fasteners to bind them together.

Here is my free flashcard project for the word, 男子 Nánzǐ in Mandarin, and the word, in/at, in English. It is something I do to help me to learn and remember the words. I hope you can use it in your own learning.

 

WHY I MAKE THESE 

I regret that I didn't learn another language when I was young enough to actually learn. At my age, it is hard to learn, but maybe it is more important to learn when you are older, so you exercise your brain and not become senile. I need all the help I can get, so I make flashcards to help me to learn new words.

I make the top part of being a language journal page and making notes all over the border and on the space for practice writing. The bottom is a flashcard to color and decorate the words.

Free Chinese Word, "Zài, 在", and English Word, "In / At," Flashcard and Journal Page

Here is my free flashcard project for the word, Zài 在 in Mandarin and "In / At" in English. It is something I do to help me to learn and remember the words. I hope you can use it in your own learning.

A FEW INSTRUCTIONS 

Print out the page below and color the words. Then cut out the bottom sections. Next, glue them together back to back, so they make a flashcard for the words. Use the top part for a language journal which you can add to others. Just use brass roundhead push-through fasteners to bind them together.

Free Chinese, and English Flashcard, and Journal Page, for 晚上 Wănshang, Evening

Here is my free flashcard project for the word, 晚上, Wanshang in Mandarin, and the word, Evening, in English.

I did not discover the wonder of language until I became too old to learn. At my age I need all the help I can get so I make flashcards to help me to learn new words,

I make the top part to be a language journal page and scribble notes all over the border and on the space for practice writing. The bottom is a flashcard to color and decorate the words.

If your paper is too lightweight then sandwich the two sides between a third sheet or a piece of heavier cardstock. Use the top part for a language journal which you can add to others. Free Mandarin / English Flashcard for Month / Moon, 月, Yuè

This is a flashcard and journal page I made for the word Month in English and 月 Yuè in Mandarin.

WHY I DO THIS

I have been trying to learn Mandarin for a while, and I just seem to get stuck on some words like this one. It is probably because I am so old, but you have to keep learning as you get old so you don't "Lose it." So I make flashcards and projects to help me to remember and learn the word. 

HOW IT WORKS

The top of the printable below is a journal page to combine with others. The bottom is the flashcard. Just cut it out and color it, then paste the two sides back to back to make the flashcard. I use it to practice the word.

ON PRINTING

The image below is a JPEG, like a Word document, and it should print fine for most people. I have made a PDF and put it below for you to try in case you have trouble. If you still have problems, use the following link to the HOW TO PRINT PAGE for suggestions.

Free Mandarin - English Flashcard for 叫 jiào, "To be Called" Plus a Bonus Journal Page

Here is my flashcard for the Mandarian word, 叫  jiào. It is like a phrase that means to be called. I do not know if this is one of those words that has an exact English translation or not

I MAKE THESE FOR MYSELF

It helps me to learn new words when I do projects like writing a word in fancy art or creating a picture of the word.  The printable below has two parts. The top part is a language journal page. I make notes all over the border and on the space for practice writing. The bottom is a flashcard to color and decorate the words.

Free, Mandarin / English Flashcard for 黄色 Huángsè and Yellow in English

Here is a free print and color flashcard for the Mandarin word, 黄色 Huángsè, and the English word Yellow.

USING THE PRINTABLE

The top of the printable is to be combined with others to make a language journal. You can decorate it, practice writing the characters, or compose some practice sentences. The bottom is to be cut apart and colored, then glued back to back to make a flashcard for the words. 

WHY DO YOUR OWN FLASHCARDS? 

Some people find doing a project helps them to learn a subject. Coloring the words helps some people to retain the image in their minds.  

I'm a senior citizen and have found at my age I need a lot of different engagement on different levels to retain what I've learned. So, the hands-on approach works for me, especially when I combine it with resources from apps and websites and YouTube.

Free Mandarin / English Flash Card for Green / Lǜsè, 绿色, and a Journal Page.

Here is a flashcard and journal page for the words, 绿色, Lǜsè, Green in English.

I like using flashcards to help learn and review words. For me, the activity of creating the flashcard helps me to learn and become familiar with the word. 

I admit that I do not understand the way this word is pronounced and used. Some internet sites show it as only one character and other websites show it as two characters. 

HOW TO USE THIS PRINTABLE 

Print the page and then cut the bottom flashcards out.  After you color them and decorate them then glue them together back to back to make a flashcard that is uniquely yours. You can even draw a picture of something that is green on them.  The top part is a practice journal page that you can decorate and combine with others to create your own language journal. This can be a record of your progress.

Free Print and Color Chinese / English Flashcard for the Word, Blue, 蓝色 Lán sè

Here is a free flashcard and journal page for the Chinese word, 蓝色 Lán sè, which is blue in English.

Print the page and color the words, then cut out the bottom portions and glue them together back to back. They make a flashcard that you can use to help learn the word.  The top part serves as a page to your own personal language study journal. Combine it with other pages by using staples or brass push pins.

I make these for my own use because it helps me to learn and remember the word. I am glad to put them here to share with you and I hope that you can use them. 

It takes me a couple of hours to create these and I do not have many on this blog yet. If you need to create more there is a blank page that you can download, see the tabs to access it. 

I am not educated and do not know languages so I use the internet to look up the words. Therefore, if I have made mistakes I am sorry and will correct any that I find out about.
